Most Common Problem
PC's become corrupted over time, but if infected by a virus or other malware, then they become corrupted very quickly!
It is this corruption that slows a PC. Over 25% of my service calls are about Slow PC!
Slow PC - least expensive cure is in my shop
To fix a slow PC, can take numerous file scans (disk cleanup, virus scans, defragmentation, etc. And when your PC is slow, then so are these scans! That is why I usually recommend that they be done in my shop. The scans run on my workbench, and I do not have to watch them! I only charge for my time, not bench time. So a scan that takes a few minutes to start, but 2 hours to run, then I only charge for those few minutes! In many cases, I charge a maximum of $ 90 to fix a slow PC. In other cases, if the cost would be more than $ 90, I may recommend that you upgrade your PC, because your hardware is out of date. However, in some cases, I'll recommend that you buy a new PC.
If you need a new PC,I do not sell computers, though I will sometimes build a custom computer, upon request. I will recommend to you the least expensive ways to meet your needs, and to help you buy one. Keep in mind, that I am not trying to sell you one of my computers. In most cases, I'll recommend buying a Dell, HP and even to buy from Walmart! My goal is to give you the best service, at the lowest cost to you.
On-Site Calls
If I go on-site for a slow PC problem, there are a few things I can do, that do not take a lot of time that can help the problem. Hovever, over 50% of the time, I recommend that the computer go to the shop for the above mentioned scan problems. In some cases, when I'm on a call for another problem, I will run into PC's that are very slow, but the customer has gotten used to it! So, I'll discuss the problem with the customer to address the problem.
